Why I Want To Join BCGS To Play Golf- Delta State D/Governor


The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief (Sir) Monday John Onyeme has promised to become member of the prestigious Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS), Edo State having fell in love with the game of golf on Saturday.

Chief Onyeme who was in Benin-City for the ongoing 7th Alaghodaro Summit stated this when he joined the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki to perform the official ceremonial tee-off of the 7th Alaghodaro Golf Tournament at the club on Saturday morning.

The deputy governor who took his first golf shot in life after the governor, and to the admiration of other golfers in attendance hereby found a new love in golf as he was applauded for the shot in his first ever attempt.

While speaking to newsmen on ground, Sir Onyeme, the Odoziani 1 of Ibabu Kingdom said: “It has been wonderful experience, personally I learnt a lot, and I am going to import with the permission of His Excellency, Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori some of the things I learnt yesterday back to my state.

“And then crowning it with the golf tournament is something else, His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki has convinced me that I must be a golfer as I took my first shot today in life and I think I was applauded.

“So, I am coming back to properly join this club, if not for anything but at least for weekends. I would be able to run around and back and take my shots.

“Nearly everything is very impressive, and I am very impressed. I want to thank the governor for given us the opportunity.”
