In the spirit of good neighbourliness, the Warri Urhobos of Okere and Agbarha Kingdoms in Warri South Local Government Area have paid a condolence visit to the Itsekiris over the demise of His Majesty, Ikenwoli I, the Olu of Warri.
Retired Brigadier-General Gold Eburu, the Otota of Okere Urhobo Kingdom and Chief Willie Digbori, the Most Senior Chief in Agbarha Warri Kingdom led the delegation to the Olu of Warri Palace.
In the letter of condolence, read by Brigadier-General Eburu, a chief in Okere Urhobo Kingdom, on behalf of the delegation, it disclosed that HRM Okumagba 11, the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom and HRM Ememoh 11, the Ovie of Agbarha Warri were behind the historic visit.
The condolence letter read in part: “The exit of the highly revered monarch, no doubt brought grief to all Deltans, particularly the Itsekiri people. He was a man of peace and a bridge-builder. It is our prayer that God should grant all the bereaved the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
A spokesman of the regent of the Olu of Warri Palace, Chief Omolubi Newuwumi expressed appreciation to the Warri Urhobos for the visit.
He seized the opportunity to invite the Warri Urhobos for the 14 days rite of passage of the late Olu of Warri which he said will commence on the 18th June and ends on 2nd July 2021.
An elated regent of Olu of Warri Palace, Prince Emmanuel Okotie – Eboh also expressed appreciation to the Warri Urhobos for the visit.
He noted that the visit was the beginning of peace and unity amongst the Warri Urhobos and Itsekiris.
Members of Ginuwa Ruling House were also present at the visit.
