
Golfing actions tee-off today as top veteran and super veteran golfers teed-off the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) Lady Captain Inaugural Golf Tourney in Benin City, Edo State.
The inaugural tournament which will be officially tee-off on Saturday, May 14th, 2022 is anticipated to feature no fewer than 200 golfers across Nigeria.
The golf tournament being organised by the club in conjunction with the ladies division is to usher in the new Lady Captain, Professor Isoken Florence Osagiede into the ladies division.
The veteran and super veteran men’s and ladies were scheduled to play their event today as part of the scheme designed to give them enough opportunity to exhibit their skills and to avoid clashing with the large turnout of golfers taking part at the tomorrow event.
However, Newsnigeriaonline.com.ng in a chat with the lady captain, she spoke on the need to feature the veteran and super veteran golfers event for today, and as a mark of respect and to honour them for their immense contributions to the ladies division
Also, Prof. Osagiede stated that this year edition has been packaged with lots of side attractions, adding that golfers will also experience the hospitality of the club.
She said: “Ladies are coming out in their old school black shirt or long dress with afro-wig on Saturday. There is going to be a lot of fun as never before during the tournament.
“Benin is a home of golf, and ladies are great organisers when it comes to golf in Nigeria, so we are going to show and display hospitality that BCGS is well known for in the Comity of Golf Clubs in Nigeria.
“Our men’s golfers have been very supportive to the ladies division at all times. They are coming out in large numbers to play at the tournament. Quality trophies from United Kingdom will be presented to winners and runners-up in different categories as well as in individual events.
“We are expecting golfers from Ibori Golf and Country Club, Asaba; Ogunnu Golf Resort, Warri; UBTH Golf Club, Benin City. Arsenal Golf Club, Owerri, Imo State; IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja; Ikoyi Golf Club, Lagos and many others.”
