Two members of a robbery syndicate who specialized in snatching motorcycle in Sango Ota and it’s environs have been arrested.
They were arrested by operatives of Ogun State Police Command on May 10th, 2021 according to a press statement made available yo newsmen in Abeokuta on Thursday by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the command.
The statement stated that the two suspects, Abiodun Ogundele, 23 years and Opeyemi Olatubosun, 22 years were arrested, following a distress call received at Sango Divisional Headquarters at about 8 pm that one Adesoji David, a motorcyclist is being attacked at Joju area of Sango Ota, by armed hoodlums.
“Upon the distress call, the DPO Sango Ota, CSP Godwin Idehai quickly mobilized his men and moved to the scene.
“On sighting the policemen, the suspects, who had already snatched the victim’s Bajaj motorcycle took to flight, but were hotly chased and two amongst them were arrested, while the other one escaped.
“Recovered from them were one locally made pistol, one live cartridge, one expended cartridge and the snatched motorcycle.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
“He also directed that the fleeing member of the gang be hunted for and brought to book as soon as possible,” the statement quoted.
