Rotaract Club of Ikenne Inducts Sixth President, Rtr. Rebecca Ishola

Rotaract Oluwatosin Rebecca Ishola has been inducted as the 6th President, Rotaract Club of Ikenne, Ogun State on Saturday, August 14th, 2021.

She was inducted as the club president during the official investiture ceremony, fund raising and induction of new Board of Directors held at Obafemi Awolowo Recreation Hall, Ikenne Remo.

In attendance were dignitaries from across the state and Nigeria too. Among them were Alakenne of Ikenne, His Royal Highness, Oba Adeyinka Onakade; Hon. Segun Seriki, Special Guests of Honour; Arole Lanre Sotunde, Chairman of the occasion, and many others.

In his opening speech, Chartered President, Rtr. Tosin Ikunika thanked all those present and those represented at the event for making the day a reality.

Ikunika said: “Rotaract Club of Ikenne is a club with her own uniqueness of making impacts in the community, we have been doing this not for any other thing, but to create impact in our little way and to develop the youths in the community for leadership way of life.

“I will appeal to all our invited guests that your contributions today will determine success of this rotary year. The purpose of today occasion is for fund raising toward this rotary year, to make more impact in the community and to the world at large.”

Similarly, Rtr. Ishola noted that her focus would be more on maternity project, knowing well that birth rate was always on the increase evey year. “Also, I will focus on community development aspect for the benefit of everyone in which rotaract is well known for.

“I am appealing to all her members to use this opportunity to team together in the continuous spirit of serving humanity to mingle out with the youths out there in order to make changes through serving humanity.”

She promised to serve in her little capacity in order to bring more positive changes to the club, more projects to be done this rotary year with the club, community and to the district level. “Your little contributions will go a long way and god will bless you all as you make the support towards the club.

“Some of the project I propose for the year 2021-2022 include donation of pregnant kits to pregnancy women at Ikenne maternity health care centre. Erection of modern shed at Delano and Ayepe junction for road users; Erection of directional billboard to Delano junction, Ikenne.

“Donation of school uniforms, sandals, schools bags and exercise books to some selected public schools students. Shed and billboard to maternity centre ward 1, Ikenne. Literacy talk, organising quiz and debate competition to some selected secondary schools, and awareness billboard to Ikenne modern market,” she listed.

Earlier on, the Immediate Past President, Rotr. Odumaye Babatunde in his valedictory speech used the occasion to appreciate everyone for given him the opportunity to serve, adding that it was just like a dream as he had to come in as the president of the club.

Also, he appreciated all the sponsoring club, Rotary Club of Sagamu Central, patrons, Rtrn. Barr. Jude Adeniyi and matron, Ms. Corin Solarin, also district representative for their big support towards the successful rotary year.

While he listed some his achievements as the outgoing president to the guests, such as water borehole donation to Ikenne community; vocational training on tie and dye where over fifty people benefited, membership training on the ideal of opportunity in rotary, and among others.

The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of awards to deserving awardees and induction of new board of director for the club.
