Ramadan: Emirates Red Crescent, Friends Of DANSO Donate Food Items To Muslims Faithfuls

The joy of Muslim faithfuls across twenty Local Government Areas in Ogun State knew no bound as various food items were distributed to them.

The items were donated by Emirates Red Crescents group and friends of DANSO as part of its efforts at supporting muslim faithfuls during the ongoing Ramadan period.

Citizens Affairs Officer of the Organisation, Mr Muhammed Basheer Raji during the distribution held in Abeokuta, disclosed that it was a way of performing ladar as directed by Prophet Muhammad (SWT), during the month of fasting.

Raji noted that Ogun was lucky to be part of the three states in Nigeria to benefit from the donations, made by Emirates Red Crescent to 2.1 millions beneficiaries in 64 countries across the world.

While commending Oguny beneficiaries for comporting themselves and displaying sense of maturity which the state is known for, Mr Muhammed disclosed that the other states that have also benefited from the gesture in the country were Lagos and Oyo.

In her remarks, Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor, Mrs Olabimpe Akamu-Afolabi, who until her appointment was a staff of the Consular General, United Arab Emirates, Lagos and also the Secretary-General of the DANSO foundation, said the organization was committed to the uplifting of humanity.

She added that the gesture was in fulfilment of the admonishing as directed by the Holy Prophet Muhammad and an act of Ibadah which is to give helping hand to people, especially the needy during and after Ramadan.

Noting that the month of Ramadan was special and one of the five pillars of Islam, saying that all practising muslims must endeavour to observe the fasting appropriately and iftar as at when due.

She commended the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele for providing continued support towards giving succour to the people of the state during the Holy month.
