Public Pry School: 2nd Governor’s Cup Semifinals Hold On Wednesday

Actions will resume on Wednesday, July 28th, 2021 for the semifinals of the 2nd edition of Governor’s Cup for all Public Primary Schools in Ogun State.

Similarly, the final of the soccer event has been slated to hold on Thursday, July 29th, 2021 at MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.

The soccer fiesta organised by the Department of Academic and School Services, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is supported by Kira TV, Nestle, and Belloxxi Cracker Biscuit.

The maiden edition of the soccer event won by Team Obafemi Owode in 2020 is aimed at discovering talents, motivate, inspiring and promoting sports in primary schools in the state.

In the semifinals, Team Ifo will slug it out with her counterpart from Ijebu North-East in the first match to determine the finalist, while Team Ado-Odo Ota versus Team Ikenne in the second semifinal have a ticket to fight for.

However, expected to grace the occasion are Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, and his wife. Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Oludare Kehinde; Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu.

Others are Special Adviser on Primary Education; SUBEB Board members; SUBEB Directors; NUT; AOPSHON (Heads of Primary Schools); Market women; NAPSGAST/Sport Teachers; pupils, and Ogun State FA among others.

However, various prizes have been slated for winners in different categories. There will be cup and gold medals with cash prize for the champions; silver medals for runner-up.

Also, gold medals for best sprinters in 200m, and 4 ×100 relay race. Silver medals for 2nd and bronze for 3rd positions. Golden gloves for best goalkeeper, plaque for best player, award to best sports teacher at the event.
