President Buhari Confirms Egba Man, Dr. Soyele As Provost FCE, Abeokuta

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. Rafiu Adekola Soyele as the 6th substantive Provost, Federal College of Education (FCE), Abeokuta, Ogun State.

With this appointment, Dr. Soyele has become the first Egba man to become the Provost of the centre of learning in the state having served as Deputy Provost for many years.

The Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Bem Goong in a statement explained that the appointment became effective from September 14th, 2021, and it’s for an initial period of four years in the first instance.

The statement further noted that, until his appointment, Dr. Soyele had been Head, Department of English, Dean of School, Director, Centre for Degree Programme, Deputy Provost and Acting Provost, all in the same institution.

Similarly, in a memorandum signed by the College Registrar, Dr Adedayo Adebayo and made available to the newsmen in Abeokuta also addressed his elevation to the topmost position in the institution.

According to the registrar, the appointment is the first time an alumnus of the college would be appointed to such an exalted position.

“The appointment is for an initial period of four years in the first instance, with effect from Sept. 14.

“While felicitating with and wishing the provost a successful tenure, we enjoin the college community to provide all necessary support to him, in order to steer the college to greater heights,” he noted.

It could be recalled that upon his assumption of duty as the deputy provost of the college in 2017, Dr. Soyele was assigned with higher responsibilities as Board Chairman of various strategic Centres and Directorates in the College.

He is a member, Nigerian Institute of Management. Also, a Fellow, Chattered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management.
