The Officer in Charge of Agbor Area Command, Nigerian Police Force, ACP Adamu Idachaba has called on Ika residents and environs to always cooperate with security agencies.
Mr Idachaba made this known when members of the Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria, LECAN), Delta State Chapter visited him in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
While thanking the group for recognizing his efforts in Ika land and its environs, he said he felt great that LECAN as a formidable organization was operating not only in the state, but across the country, urging them to keep rendering quality services to the people.
The police boss noted that there was need for continuous synergy among Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), LECAN, stakeholders and the consumers, and advised the group to be law-abiding citizens and desist from taking laws into their hands.
Earlier, the Delta State Chairman of LECAN, Mr Ferdinand Oyiagbevwen said that the association was formed in the year 1961 to unite all registered licensed electrical contractors for the advancement of electrical installations in the country.
He stressed that LECAN was established by government to handle new electrical installations of house wiring and mega electrical sub- station in the country, under the supervision and approval of Nigeria Electricity Management Service Agency (NEMSA) by commissioning.
Continuing, he noted that they were also charged with the responsibility of ensuring that all operating as LECAN members without authority from the federal government, were not allowed to do.
“We have come to let you know that our roles in your daily operations cannot be overemphasized. We want you to start partnering with us.
“The purpose of this exercise is to seek synergy with groups and other well-meaning Nigerians on how to curb electric cable vandalism,” he stated.
