Mrs. Betty Oriakhi emerged winner at the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) Monday Ladies Outing concluded at the Club golf course, Benin City, Edo State.
The golf event which featured golfers within the club was sponsored by the immediate past President of Benin Club, Dr. Matthew Oriakhi to honour the ladies division.
At the end of the nine holes event, Mrs Oriakhi, wife of the sponsor played a net score of 35 to win the golf event. Dame Comfort Edeki beat Joy Omoroghiuwa on count back to place second as they both played 36 net while Ehis Igbinadolor, Lady Captain, UBTH Golf Club settled for fourth place.
Pastor Benson Akhigbe with 34 net was not left out of the victory party as he beat the likes of Jude Igbinadolor (38 net) and Emmanuel Omofuwa (40 net) to second and third place. respectively.
In the veteran ladies event, Professor Mrs. Ose Dawodu net score of 33 secured her victory over Mrs. Margaret Osayi whose net score was 42.
Ngozi Ebeye, former Captain, played 43 net to win the veteran men’s category ahead of Ade Edeki, former President, Benin Club.
Newsnigeriaonline.com.ng in a chat with Lady Captain, Prof. Florence Isoken Osagiede, she appreciated the sponsor of the event, and others who have been sponsoring the Monday golf outing.
Furthermore, she thanked all the golfers who participated in the event while she commended the overall winner, Mrs. Oriakhi whom she described as a good golfer.
She said: “Mrs. Oriakhi has been a good golfer at all times. Her victory today is not coincidence with her husband being the sponsor of the event. She has been winning various golf events.
“Men have been our sponsors, they have booked sponsorship till end of May. Today, our able BCGS Secretary, Hon. Osazuwa Ehiorobo has promised to be sponsoring the golf outing on every first Monday of the month till the end of my tenure.
“This is one of the numerous golf tournaments that will be played by ladies and others in due season. Among them are Lady’s Captain Inaugural in May while the biggest event, Benin Ladies Open is slated for October.”
