The rumour on possible change of Justice Sikiru Owodunni, the Presiding Judge of the Ipokia High Court in case of Onipokia of Ipokia is seriously causing fear in the camp of supporters of Oba Yisa Olaniyan.
It will be recalled that there were series of court cases against the purported selection of Olaniyan as the new Onipokia of Ipokia.
The Oteni Botemole Royal Family of Iwaye Dodo Ruling House had sued the Ogun State Government, and Ipokia Kingmakers for the wrongful selection of Yinusa Olaniyan, a non indigene and non member of Iwaye Dodo ruling house as the Onipokia of Ipokia.
The royal house is challenging the imposition of Olaniyan by the kingmakers, contrary to a 1956 Chieftaincy Declaration and a valid restraining order in the process of selection of the new Oba.
Some of the kingmakers who spoke on condition of anonymity hinted that if truly the judge would be changed, the outcome may not be in their interest.
Similarly, when pressed to make clarification on the statement, the Chiefs in a separate interview affirmed that the continuous delay in the commencement of the trial was occasioned by the various objections of their counsel.
They opined that may frustrate the efforts of the plaintiff whom they sure would fail in the court.
However, Prince Rasaki Bankole, another Prince of Iwaye Dodo Ruling House in the town denied knowledge of any change of judge as they did not notice any hostility by the judge towards their case.
Prince Rasaki Bankole said that they have absolute confidence in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.
