Oluwafemiayo Makes It Gold Number 3 For Nigeria, Sets Paralympics, World Records

It was another milestone victory as Nigeria national anthem was sang for the third time as Oluwafemiayo Folashade won another gold medal for the country in the powerlifting event.

As if that was not enough, she equally set the new Paralympic and World records in 85kg category, hitherto made Nigeria it gold number three for the most populous nation in Africa.

She lifted 147 in her first attempt while the second attempt was 149, only for her to finish the category with 152.

In another development, Loveline Obiji failure in her +86kg class last attempt of 152kg ended with silver at 147kg. Deng Xuemei of China with 147; 151 and 153kg lifts carted home the good medal, just as bronze mefak went to Zieba Mareena of Poland with 140 best attempt.

With this progress made so far, Nigeria has recorded three gold, one silver, and two bronze, totaling six medals.

Newsnigeriaonline.com.ng. recalls that Nigeria presented total of ten athletes in the powerlifting event at the games.
