Ogun Government Assures Continuous Support For Poultry Sector, Hosts Nigeria Poultry Show

Ogun State Government has promised to continue to provide the necessary support for the poultry sector in ensuring food and nutrition security which is one of the agricultural agenda of the state.

Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina disclosed this at the 11th Nigeria Poultry Show 2021 organised by the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) which commenced yesterday, November 2nd – 4th, 2021 in Abeokuta.

The three days poultry show with the theme ‘De-risking the Nigerian Poultry: Stabilizing Critical Inputs and Market Prices for Sustainability’ is the largest poultry exhibition in West Africa.

The show is aimed at showcasing new innovations, technology and recent advances in the global livestock.

Dr. Odedina noted: “Ogun State Government through the Ministry of Agriculture will continue to provide the necessary support for the poultry sector in ensuring food and nutrition security which is one of the agricultural agenda of the state.

“The poultry sector is very peculiar in the agricultural economy. Ogun State is proud to be associated with them being the highest producer of eggs and broiler in South-West, Nigeria.”

However, the highlights of the events included products presentations, lectures, exhibition, and panelist discussions.

In attendance were, Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Olabode Adetoyi; Director of Agric Services, Ministry of Agriculture, Lagos State, Mr Babatunde Shonekan; ILRI Country Manager Nigeria, Dr. Tunde Adegoke; Country Manager, AFEX Commodity Exchange Nigeria, Mr Ayodeji Balogun; Farmers Group, and other stakeholders in the poultry value chain.
