Odogbolu Council Boss Canvasses For CSR To Enhance Community Development

Hon. Obafemi Onakoya, the Transition Committee Chairman, Odogbolu Local Government has called on clubs and social organisations to contribute to the development of communities through Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) initiative.

The council boss stated this in a statement made available to newsmen by
Dare Majekodunmi, Zonal Information Officer (ZIO), Ijebu Ode in Thursday.

Hon. Onakoya made the call during the commissioning of a block of toilet at Omu Ajose Comprehensive High School, Omu at the council, renovated by Ijebu Age Group known as ‘Regberegbe, Egbe Tobalase Okunrin’ (1971-1973) in Ijebuland.

He hinted that the renovation of the school toilets would improve learning environment for the students, imploring the school authority to ensure adequate cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.

“It is essential for private organisations, clubs and associations to contribute their quota to the development of our communities through their corporate social responsibilities to further support government in the provision of social amenities for the people,” he said.

Speaking earlier, the Giwa Egbe Tobalase Okunrin Akile Ijebu, Abdul-Azeez Alausa, said the project was embarked on to ensure that students were not exposed to cholera and other diseases associated with unhealthy environment.

“The renovation of a block of toilet at the school was initiated by one of us who attended this school many years ago, Otunba Balogun Sadiku and we have to rally round him.

“This is not the only project we have done, we renovated the Central Mosque toilet last year, gave scholarship to students at various levels of education and frequent donation of food to motherless homes, among others,” Alausa said.

In his remarks, the Principal of the school (Senior), Mr. Adesegun Onabote appreciated the gesture, saying it would be an avenue for other stakeholders to give back to their Alma Mata.
