Nigerians have been assured that with Senator John Enoh Owan as the Minister of Sports Development, the country sports is in good and safe hands.

The Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to the minister, Prince Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye gave this assurance in a chat with sports writers in Abuja, while he confirmed his commitment towards a total development of sports at all levels.

Adeboye, who was a former SSA to Lagos State Governor on Sports Development, stated further that developing sports begins with the encouragement and welfare of athletes as well as prioritising the growth of sports at the grassroots levels.

He remarked: “The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh Owan, is a lover and promoter of grassroots sports.  And interestingly, he is not oblivious of the many and particularly, the peculiar problems of developing sports in Nigeria.

“He is a knowledgeable man, with vast experience in private and public services. And he is definitely committed to leaving a strong and positive legacy in Nigeria sports. Working with him as my principal, I believe in his capabilities to uplift sports in Nigeria.

“More than mere rhetorics, I must tell you confidently that Nigeria sports is in good hands.”
