Mahmud, Oriakhi Rule BCGS Lady Captain’s Inaugural Golf Tournament

It was an interesting golfing moment as Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) former Lady Captain, Suwadetu Mahmud and immediate past President of Benin Club, Dr. Mathew Oriakhi stunned other contenders to win the BCGS Lady Captain’s Inaugural Golf Tournament over the weekend.

With a net score of 69, Mahmud, gold medalist at Edo 2020 National Sports Festival won the ladies category ahead of Joy Omorogiuwa with 70 net, while Fmr. LGAN National Vice-President, Southern Zone and former PRO and current Head Media of LGAN, Debby Otabor and Princess Habiibah Oyeghe Oyarekhua settled for third and fourth with 72 Nett and 74 Nett respectively.

In the men’s category, Dr. Oriakhi continued his fine form after Dubai tour to win with 68 net ahead of Sam Awiaka who played 72 net, just as F. Utaji with 73 net placed third spot, thus pushed Dr. Mojeed Momoh to fourth after beating him on count-back.

Osaze Iyare picked the best gross with 75 in the men’s cadre, while Ehis Igbinadolor, the lady Captain of UBTH won the ladies best gross trophy with 84.

However , the Lady Captain, Dr. (Mrs.) Isoken Florence Osagiede in her closing remarks thanked everyone for making the inaugural a huge success. Adding that she never expected the large turnout of golfers across the country who teed-off at the event.

She acknowledged the immense contributions of men golfers in the club and for sponsoring the ladies’ Kitties.
While she rounded up with all thanks to Almighty God for the privilege given to serve the ladies division.

Meanwhile, Margaret Osayi recorded 73 to beat Omosede Osaghae who played 76 net in the veteran ladies while Basil Idahosa won the veteran men’s cadre with 75 net after beating the likes of Chief Afam Obanor (76 Nett ) and Sir Tony Aghedo (77 Nett ). Mr. John Ogbeide and Mrs. Ivie Iyoha won in the super veteran men and women category.

Similarly, the ladies guest trophy went to 72 Nett played Rita Izoje from Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC), Asaba while Sapele Athletic Club (SAC) Golf Section, Lady Captain, Lucky Akpieye placed second with 74 Nett .

Nkwor Uche from Sapele Club won the guest men’s category having played 77 Nett ahead of Cletus Emifoniye who placed second with 84 net while Hon. Reuben Mgbodi surprised 89 Nett earned him the third spot.

However, Gordon Imadiyi and S. Osie were adjudged winners in nearest the pin men’s and ladies event respectively. Also, N. Uche and Joy Omorogiuwa won the longest drive in men’s and ladies event too.

In another development, LGAN South South Zone, National Vice-President, Sandra Emina has been crowned as the new Queen of the Green. She beat former Queen and Lady Captain, Princess Nkiruika Awiaka at the contest.
