Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has charged Returning Officers (ROs) participating in the forthcoming 2021 Local Government Elections to uphold good conduct and avoid acts that can tarnish the image of the state.
This was stated in a press release made available to newsmen in Abeokuta by Ahmed Taofeek, Press Officer, OGSIEC on Monday.
Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu gave the charge while monitoring the training of the ROs held simultaneously across the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
He hinted that the training was aimed at acquainting them with the electoral process for the successful conduct of the elections.
“We want your watchword to be integrity, probity, accountability. We know you will not let us down and I want to assure you that we will not let you down either. We must ensure that the will of the people prevailed. God will help us all as we do this,” OGSIEC boss said.
He enjoined them to put all they were taught into good use, adding that the skill acquired would be useful for the local government elections and other national assignments.
The trainings were held at Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta (Ogun Central); St. Michael’s Primary School, Ota, and Yewa College Ilaro (Ogun West), Ijebu Mushin College, Ijebu-Ode, and Remo Secondary School, Sagamu (Ogun East).
