The Managing Director/CEO of Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA), Olufemi Odumosu has donated books and other educational materials to the OORBDA Primary School library.
The presentation were made on October 12th, 2021 when he paid a working visit to the school situated within the premises of the OORBDA.
This was made known by Abiodun Ogundele, Public Relations and Protocols as part of the activity to celebrate this year 2021 International Day of the Girl Child.
Odumosu while addressing the pupils and teachers during the visit stated that the United Nations (UN) observed the International Day of the Girl Child, every October 11th to promote the girls rights and highlights gender inequalities all over the world and also to address the challenges faced by young women with the primary focus on the education of the girl child.
He said that his visit to the school was to sensitize all the pupils with special emphasis on the girls to stay focused on their education and be self disciplined so as to attain great heights in life.
He said: “If you excel in your studies, great opportunities await you and I am sure from among you, successful men and women would emerge. I am appealing to all the pupils to be good ambassadors of their school, the community and society in general.”
Furthermore, he appreciated the teachers who he said toiled day and night to ensure the pupils turn out great. He promised to urgently assist in fixing the dilapidated office building which house the head-teacher, the school library and the store.
In his remarks, the school head-teacher, Mr. Abayomi Amos thanked the managing director for the visit and his fatherly assurance of intervention to fix the dilapidated office building which he said has been hindering his day to day administrative performance in the school.
He also appreciated the MD for the authority efforts which made the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board intervention in the renovation of a block of five classroom in the school possible.
The visit was facilitated by Jewel of the Lord, a Non-Governmental Organization led by Mrs Judith Agu, the OORBDA Director of Legal.
Others on the entourage of the managing director are, the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mr. Dayo Babaranti; the Head, Public Relations, Mr. Saliu Adeniyi among others.
