2023 Presidency: Nigeria Needs Courageous Youths To Take Over- Gov. Bello

Worried by the continuous downgrading of youths from assuming leadership positions, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has affirmed that it is high time for youths to emerge as President of Nigeria in 2023.

Governor Bello, whose leadership quality in the Confluence State has been rated best among other governors in the country, whereby youths and women were given more responsibilities in his administration.

He stated this at the unveiling of his personality, person and capacity to Nigerian youths as a worthy candidate to be elected as President of Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.

The unveiling was organised by Afenifere For Collective Transformation (ACT) during a Benefit Conference tagged ‘Ileya Benefit Conference’ with the theme, “Youths Own The Power” held in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State on Sunday, July 25th, 2021.

The governor, ably represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Folasade Ayoade, who led the state government delegation expressed confidence that youths would take over the presidency in the 2023 general election, but must be courageous to wrestle and take over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria.

He stated: “A number of older generations of leaders assumed offices at young age, hence, youths should be given a chance to rule Nigeria in 2023. Unless youths are courageous to wrestle, nobody will hand over power to them.

“Ideally, they should say that since we came to power as youths, let’s allow the youths to have the power. But I need to let my fellow youths know that we will take it. They will not want to give it easily. The truth is that they will not call you to come and take the power. So, we need courageous youths.

“We need somebody that has the heart for youths and women in government, that feel what we feel to take over.”

In his admonition, the Director General of ACT, Prince Tolu Ajayi describing governor Bello as detribalised Nigerian, and that was the reason he and other youths in South-West have declared their support for Bello as a worthy candidate for 2023 presidency.

He recalled that governor Bello’s administration favoured the younger generation as the vast majority of his cabinet members were youths.

However, the highlights of the event was a recitation contest among women on the achievements of governor Bello in Kogi State, just as the best presenter from Osun State walked away with a sum of N130,000, while the runner-up from Ogun State went home with N100,000.

The contestants and their team had earlier diged deeper about governor Bello and his giant achievements in Kogi State, especially in critical areas of economy, job creation, security, education, healthcare, infrastructural development, youths and women empowerment and engagement among others.
