Igbo Oje: Onpetu Of Ijeru Kingdom Solicits Govt, Individuals Support For Archeological Documentations

His Royal Majesty (HRM), Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran, Lagbami Osekun III, the Onpetu of Ijeru Kingdom has appealed to Oyo State government and well meaning individuals to partner with the kingdom over plan archeological documentations of the ancient town.

Oba Oladapo made this appeal on Friday during the 2023 Odun Oba Festival held at Altar of Praise Orile Oje, Ogbomosho South Local Government.

In his address, he said: “This place where we are today is where all the Oluoje sons and daughters had their headquarters in the ancient time. It was from here we all dispatched to our various domains and destinations.

“We started a process about 20 years ago to have archeological documentations of this place, but till date finance has been our greatest handicap.

“We brought professionals from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, and University of Ibadan to carry out an archeological research to which the initial findings were documented in 1 or 2 International journals.

We are appealing to government and well placed individuals who are interested to partner with us to achieve this laudable project. It doesn’t matter whether you are Oluoje or not. I believe it is achievable and will surely get it done by the special grace of God.

History is beckoning on His Excellency, Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, who is equally one of us to take up the bull by the horns.”
