Ogun State Sports Council has donated sports equipment to Adeoye Lambi Memorial Secondary School, Obada Oko, Abeokuta.
The donation was part of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration ‘Building Our Future Together’ agenda and to develop sports at grassroots level across the state.
Some of the sports equipment donated included handball net and balls; volleyball balls; badminton racket and shuttle-cup; tennis racket and net, and many others.
The presentation was made by the Director of Sports, Mrs. Folakemi Iyabode Rotimi in collaboration with other top management staff, while the Vice Principal of the school, Mr. Bayo Shomade received the equipment on behalf of the school authority, and witnessed by the Games Master, Kayode Tomori and other staff too.
In a chat with Newsnigeriaonline.com.ng on Tuesday after donation, the OGSSC director of sports noted that it became necessary in fulfilment of the governor Abiodun agenda to develop sports at grassroots level across the state.
She disclosed that when the sports council was in search of location to commence it’s grassroots development programmes in the local government area, they discovered two schools, primary and secondary suitable for the programme.
“The programme is our catch then young in which Ogun State is noted for. We approach these schools for space, and to seek assistance for our sports officers to operate with ease.
“The management of Adeoye Lambo Memorial Secondary School at Obada Oko, Ewekoro Local Government gave us report for availability of space to be used, we were very delighted for their zeal to improve sports in the school and to contribute to state sports development agenda.
“This prompted the management of the sports council to donate various sports equipment to them, and have hope that they will make use of it judiciously.”
In his response, the vice-principal, Shomade appreciated the OGSSC management team led by Mrs. Rotimi for the donation, promising that the school will justify the confidence reposed and utilise the sports equipment to the development of sports in the school and its environs.
