Former Military Governor of Oyo State from 1985 – 1988, General Adetunji Idowu Olurin is dead.
He was reportedly died at the age of 76 on Saturday at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi Araba, Lagos State.
General Olurin, an indigene of Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government, Ogun State was born on December 3, 1944, and had served in various Nigerian Army formations across the country.
Similarly, Gen. Olurin served as the Field Commander of the ECOMOG Peace keeping Force in Liberia from 1992 – 1993.
However, after his retirement from the military, he ventured into farming and later joined politics.
His adventure into politics pitched him with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on which platform he contested the Ogun State Governorship Election in 2011, whereby, he lost to the immediate past Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun at the election.
He is survived by a wife, and children.
