Falilat Ogunkoya Congratulates Ogun Athlete, Latifat Victory At Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games

Former Nigeria track and field legend, Chief Falilat Ogunkoya has congratulated Latifat Tijani, for winning the country first medal at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Japan.

Tijani won gold medal in the para-powerlifting event on Thursday after put up a scintillating performance by writing her name in gold with her second attempt of 105kg and her third attempt was 107kg, but she did that in a style with 117kg in her fourth attempt getting close to world record of 118kg to lift the first medal for team Nigeria in Tokyo.

The former African record holder in the 400m race who was excited with the Ogun State born para-powerlifter feat stated this in a text message sent to Newsnigeriaonline.com.ng on Thursday.

She also congratulated her coach, Kemi Oyebola who is the he’s coach of the Popwerlifting Team to the games for her excellent tutor on the athletes.

The 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics bronze medal in the 400m said: “I want to congratulate Latifat Tijani and her coach. Kemi Oyebola. She made herself and her coach, Kemi proud for being from Ogun State and Nigeria.

“She won silver medal five years ago at the Rio 2016 Paralympics Games. For picking a gold this time around, she has done very well, and I am so proud of her. Congratulations once again.”
