Engr. Omofuma Re-enacts Form To Win BCGS MKG Monthly Mug/Birthday Kitty


Engr. Emmanuel Omofuma joy knew no bounds on Tuesday as he was declared winner at the May edition of the Mavericks Group Monthly Mug/Birthday Kitty held at Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS), Benin City, Edo State.

A total of twenty nine members teed-off at the May edition of the kitty to celebrate and honour six members whose birthday was in that month for their contributions to the group as well as the golf section.

They were fmr. Captain, Chief Afam Obanor; fmr. President of Benin Club, Pharm Friday Iboi; Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen (current captain, UBTH Golf Club); fmr. Edo State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice J.I. Acha; Odiase Sylvester, and Andrew Young.

Engr Omofuma at the kitty re-enacted the form with a net score of 68, hitherto sent a message across to other members of the Hall of Fame group that he is back with a big bang and to contest for more trophies this year.

However, the duo of fmr. President of Benin Club 1931, Dr. Matthew Oriakhi (hcp 12) and Ade Edeki Esq., (hcp 24) were adjudged joint second having both recorded 72 net.

In another development, BCGS Secretary, Victor Oriasotie esq., claimed the best gross award with a gross score of 79.

In an chat with Newsnigeriaonline.com.ng. Chairman of Mavericks Kitty Group, Elder Monday Ikhureigbe expressed satisfaction with the large turnout, noting that every birthday celebration is a special day for the group to connect with all members and remember them for the celebration.

He added that the turnout at this edition showed how much members loved each other and given gratitude for another year of celebration while prizes were presented to those who excelled at the end of the game .

He used the occasion to appreciate all sponsors and supporters for MKG activities. Also appreciated President of Benin Club, Henry Omoregie esq., for his logistic support for the Ibadan trip, and Emmanuel Usoh Esq. for providing the lunch while he notified members on the forthcoming five days golf tour of Ibadan and many others.

In his winner’s speech, Engr. Omofuma noted it was wonderful day to remember and to show himself strong in the game. Adding that he played with conducive team that gave him a chase for the victory.

“I have a positive mind to play with others having in mind of winning the kitty before leaving my house. I knew that I have to win to re-enact my membership of the Hall of Famers Group, and things worked out in my favour.

“Initially, OB has been my major issue all this while, but today no OB, I worked hard to play three par and then move on. The result is victory for me and I am happy to be a proud champion.”

Meanwhile, Eghosa Otabor has been inducted as a full fledge member of the kitty group having satisfied all the requirements outlined for new member.
