Chief Luwoye, Wife Shine At Gov. Dapo Abiodun @ 64 Special Golf Kitty


It was double honour for the Family of Luwoye on Saturday as Chief Shina Luwoye and his wife, Ruth Luwoye were declared winner and runner-up respectively at Governor Dapo Abiodun @ 64 Special Birthday Golf Kitty held at Abeokuta Golf Club (AGC), Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Chief Luwoye, the Chairman of Ecogas Energy Resources Limited played a net score of 68 to win the men’s category while A. Oladele beat F. Ajibade to the second position on count-back having both played 71 net.

In the same vein, Mrs. Luwoye played 71 to secure second spot behind eventual winner in the ladies category, Mrs. Adenike Jimoh who recorded 70 net.

The one day golf kitty featured 120 golfers from all over the country was organised by management of the AGC in collaboration with the state government appointees and was supported by Wema Bank as part of its corporate social responsibility.

The golf kitty had in attendance governor Abiodun who performed the ceremonial tee-off while on his entourage were the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engineer Noimot Salako-Oyedele; members of the State Executive Committee; Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants; Captains of Industries as well as Osi-Egba Chief Bode Mustapha, and among others.

The elated governor Abiodun in his address expressed sincere gratitude and acknowledged the efforts of organisers of the event as he admonished the joy of being celebrated in such an exemplary manner.

He hereby announced his support for the event to become an annual ceremony in the golf calendar of the club.

Similarly, the deputy governor who represented the governor at the closing ceremony commended the Luwoye Family for wining in all categories showing that gold runs in that family in Ogun State.

While making his victory speech, Chief Luwoye, who was formerly with Shell Corporation said: “I am honored to have emerged as the overall winner of the inaugural Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun @ 64 Special Birthday Golf Kitty today.

“This event championed by His Excellency Governor Dapo Abiodun demonstrates his commitment to promoting work-life balance and recreation in the state.

“The tournament provided a unique opportunity for me to engage with fellow players, including Mr. Tunde Owolabi, and interact with distinguished personalities such as the Osi Egba, High Chief Olubode Mustapha, and the Honorable Commissioners for Health and Housing in the state.

“The event was a testament to the power of golf in fostering connections and camaraderie. I am grateful to have been a part of this memorable experience and look forward to future editions of the tournament.”

Earlier, Captain of the club, Professor Kola Adebayo while welcoming the governor and his entourage noted the landmark achievements of governor Abiodun over the last five years and rejoiced with him on the occasion of his birthday, wishing him many more years of landmark achievements.

Prof. Adebayo explained that the governor of the state is traditionally the Grand Patron of the club, adding that the club would continue to organise more befitting tournaments to celebrate His Excellency in the coming years.
