It was an amazing end as members of Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) showered encomiums on the immediate past Executives led by Mayer Ologbosere for adding value to the club.
The executive members who assumed the leadership position in 2021 were praised to have performed well in the last twelve months of their services in various capacity.
It could be recalled that the BCGS Captain’s Day Golf Tournament was concluded on Saturday to honour the captain for his leadership role in the club.
In an interview with some members after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the club house on Sunday, Ologbosere led exco were given appraisal for steering the ship for a year despite all the hiccups that occurred during the period.
Prior to the AGM, members who arrived in large number to vote for candidates of their choice also took turn to attend the meeting and to access the
exco performance over the year.
However, at the end of the meeting, members commended the exco, hoping that the new exco would continue from where they stopped.
Newsnigeriaonline.com.ng chats with Sharafadeen Mahmud after the AGM gathered that the Mayer’s exco performed their duties extensively by adding value to what they met at the club.
“Next exco should carry on from where they stopped. The new exco will consolidate on the previous excos right from Osaghae Nehikhare to Prince Aghatise Erediuwa and Mayer Ologbosere tenure.
“Mayer exco has brought the section to align with the international trend both in physical and development of golf in the club,” he said.
Similarly, Omoka Dafiewhare noted that Ologbosere tried so much for the section having served as two time vice captain. “He personally disciplined himself by mixing his personal business with the section activities for three years.”
Furthermore, Dafiewhare also called Sexy Legs affirmed that he brought his two years experience as vice captain into reckoning by working closely with his executive members. “I commend him for successful tenure.”
Also, Mrs. Nora Ucheagwu, BCGS former Lady Captain on her part hinted that he tried and did his best to lead the club in the last one year, noting that it was not easy to be a captain and to lead people successfully.
Moreover, Solomon Okuonghae corroborated what others said, adding that one cannot be a hundred percent .perfect, as he hereby urged new exco to continue from where they stopped.
In the same vein, former Lady Captain, UBTH Golf Club, Sandra Emina described the captain as a calm person who did not want trouble, but his calmness was taken for granted by some members.
She said: “Some members thought he could be manipulated as a result of his calmness, but he stood firm as captain of the golf section till the end. He deserves to be commended.”
