BCGS: Elder Ikhureigbe Clinches Mavericks Group Monthly Mug/Birthday Kitty

Elder Monday Ikhureigbe race to victory at the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) Mavericks Group Monthly Mug/Birthday Kitty held on Tuesday was not an easy task as he was given a chase for the trophy.

The November edition of the birthday kitty which featured a large turn out of members was another moment to celebrate members who were born in the month of November.

The celebrants were Prince George Eweka, Provost of the kitty group; Jimmy Osazuwa; Bob Owamagbe; fmr President of Benin Club 1931, Dr. Mathew Oriakhi, and Prof. Anthony Emina, University of Benin Professor of Economics.

Moreover, the keenly contested kitty that one would have mistaken for a championship eventually ended in favour of Ikhureigbe (hcp 15) having recorded a net score of 71 to douse the tension and thus emerged victorious.

Closely chased was another rave of the moment, Peter Oboro (hcp 19) whom many thought would carry the day as he hereby settled for the second place with a score of 72 net while the third place winner was Engr. Emman Omofuma (hcp 21) with 74 net.

However, the former President of Benin Club 1931, Dr. Matthew Oriakhi whose golfing prowess is inexhaustible clinched the best gross award having played a total of 85 gross at the end of the event.

In his admonition, Chairman of the Mavericks Kitty group, Lawson A. Ugiagbe esq., commended all members for their unwavering support in making the November edition a great success despite their tight schedules.

He hereby enjoined members to repeat the feat of coming out in large numbers on Tuesday, November 12th for the visit to the orphanage homes in Benin-City while reminding them of the kitty group end of the year party slated for Thursday, November 14th at the club.

Similarly, in his winner’s speech, Ikhureigbe, the Green Jacket winner narrated the rigours he passed through in the hands of other contestants before winning the event.

Meanwhile, he urged other members who are yet to win the trophy this year to start practicing ahead for the December edition, warning that if they failed to, he would not mind to win and retain the trophy.

Birthday toasts were offered for all the celebrants while members and guests were lavished with delicious meals and assorted drinks for the entertainment.
