Stand up, stand up, for the champions was the song that rented the air as Victor Amadu and Joy Omorogiuwa emerged winners at Chief Percy Okojie @ 60 Charity Golf Tournament concluded over the weekend.
The golf tournament held at Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS), Benin-City, Edo State teed-off on Tuesday with Caddies and Eaglets event while veterans, super veterans and others featured on Friday.
Amadu (hcp 10) won the men’s category having played a net score of 72. Eghosa Otabor (hcp 16) placed second to beat Barr. Adekunle Edeki (hcp 28) on count-back as they both played 74 net while BCGS Competition Secretary, Osaze Iyare (hcp.) won the best gross with 75 gross.
In the the ladies category, Omorogiuwa (hcp 31) was filled with joy as she emerged winner with 67 net. Foluso Oboro (hcp 36) with 75 net and BCGS Lady Captain, Betty Oriakhi (hcp 26) recorded 76 net to place second and third respectively. Ehis Igbinadolor won the best gross with 81 gross.
Sir Tony Aghedo confirmed supremacy with 70 net in the veteran men’s category, while Sylvester Akhigbe played 73 net and Robert Owamagbe with 77 net placed second and third. Dr. Jackson Gaius Obaseki for playing 77 net won the super veteran men.
Adesuwa Osahon (hcp 36) led the veteran ladies cadre with 83 net just as Prof. Oseluse Dawodu (hcp 31) recorded 85 net to settle for second ahead of Omosefe Osaghae (hcp 34) who played 86 net. Ivie Iyoha (hcp 32) aka Mama Golf won the super veteran ladies with 94 net.
However, the guest men trophy was won by Otunba O. Adekanola with a net score of 73 net while Abraham Aburime played 74 net to pick the second spot award.
Friends, golfers and family members that graced the dinner party showered encomiums on the celebrant, Chief Okojie, the Ebojieta of Ohordua for his exemplary leadership quality and contributions to sports development in the state and beyond.
Highlights of the weeklong tournament was presentation of prizes to all those that distinguished themselves in various categories.
