Aibangbe, Oriakhi Win BCGS Hackers Group End Of The Year Golf Kitty


It was a colorful closing ceremony at the 2021 Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) Hackers Group End Of The Year Golf Kitty held on December 22nd, 2021.

At the end of the one day well organized kitty, Edward Aibangbe, Mrs. Betty Oriakhi and Ralph Irorere emerged winners at the event which featured over sixty golfers that came across South-South region. recalls that Hackers Group which packaged the golf kitty at the BCGS golf course, Benin City was formed in early 2020 by Chief Lucky Osawaru, the Chairman of the BCGS Hackers Kitty.

The group membership drive has increased less than two years of its existence, and it has become a toast of other kitty groups in the South-South zone.


Aibangbe played a net score of 74 to win the Hackers men’s category ahead of Gordons Imadoyi who had 75 net while Chief Osawaru placed third with 77 net.

Mrs. Oriakhi, wife of the immediate past President, Benin Club won the ladies cadre with a scincilating 70 net just as Irorere with 68 net beat Victor Amadu (69 net) to win the guests men event.

In his victory speech, Aibangbe expressed gratitude to the organisers of the kitty, adding that the trophy won was his Christmas gift and that he would cherish it for a longer period.

He said: “This is a great and special Christmas gift for me because I started playing golf in April and got my handicap in June. Ever since, I have been consistent in improving my game.

“In the course of my game, I became rude by challenging top golfers in the game. I always boastful of winning golf tournament one day, and it has come to reality. I will win again.”

Similarly, Chief Osawaru on his part thanked all the participants for coming out in large numbers to honour the group. Noting that the Hackers Group has remained a leading kitty group in the club.

He remarked that the group has remained the only consistent group that has never missed its Wednesday playing days since establishment in 2020.

“I want to thank all our members for believing in the group all through the year. I appreciate our various sponsors for their immense support in advancing the group. We are proud to associate with you all.

“I am promising that the year 2022 edition will be glamorous and better organise than this year own. Appreciation goes to all. God bless you all for being part of our success story.”


In the same vein, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Dan Sule who could not hide his feelings on the successful organisation of the kitty event thanked the management of Benin Club Golf Section for supporting the group in all ramifications.

He hereby commended other members of the Hackers Group for their selfless service in enhancing the development of the group at all times. “I enjoy being a member of this Hackers Kitty Group.”

Meanwhile, the highlight of the celebration night was the presentation of trophies, medals and other fabulous prizes to al those that performed extraordinarily.
