1st Kano State Military And Paramilitary Games Hold In July

The maiden edition of Kano State Military and Paramilitary Games have been slated to commence from July 31st to August 14th, 2021 in the state.

The games tagged ‘Service Games 2021’ is being organised by the Kano State Sports Commission having concluded arrangements to organize the event.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Bashari Ahmed Maizare, Director of Sports (Technical), and made available to sports writers by Abbati S. Abba, Public Relations Officers (PRO), sports commission.

Seventeen various sporting events will be contested at the games. They are athletics, football, volleyball, basketball, rugby, badminton, squash, table tennis, chess and boxing. Others are judo, karate, kick boxing, taekwondo, wushu-kungfu, wrestling and weight lifting.

The statement furthered that all the events would be contested in male and female categories except football and rugby where only the male category would be played.

It stated: “In view of the foregoing, Kano State Sports Commission had extended invitations to twelve federal and five state formations in the state.

“The federal formations are the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air force, Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Services (Prisons), Federal Roads Safety Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Nigeria Police (State Command), Nigeria Police Force (Zone 1), EFCC, DSS, and Federal Fire Service

“The state formations are Karota, State Fire Service, Hisbah Command, Corporate Securities, and Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs).

“Preparatory to the games, Kano State Sports Commission has arranged for meeting of stakeholders involving Sports Directors, Officers in Charge of Sports of all the Military and Paramilitary scheduled to hold on June 28th, 2021 at the commission. The meeting will discuss vital issues concerning conduct of the games.”
